At the Construction Sustainability Summit during ICW Borneo 2025, Prof. Ir. Dr. Resdiansyah, Senior Adviser to the Executive Office of the President of Indonesia, delivered a powerful message. Indonesia is entering a transformative phase of economic and infrastructural growth, with 2025 marking the start of a new chapter in its national development. According to Prof. Ir. Dr. Resdiansyah, Senior Adviser to the Executive Office of the President of Indonesia, the country is strategically positioning itself to become a high-income nation by 2038.
Backed by the “Acceleration of Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth” theme, Indonesia’s national plan involves coordinated action from ministries, government agencies, and the private sector. Infrastructure sits at the core of this strategy, enabling better connectivity across the nation’s vast archipelago and driving equitable economic progress.
One of the most ambitious undertakings is relocating Indonesia’s capital from Jakarta to Nusantara in East Kalimantan – a project designed to catalyse sustainable urban planning, low-carbon living, and smart city infrastructure. The Nusantara vision encompasses green building standards, biodiversity protection, smart mobility, and renewable energy integration.

Government support has been matched by a surge in construction sector activity, growing steadily at 8 to 9% annually. From toll roads and transit systems to energy grids and housing, Indonesia is laying the groundwork for a globally competitive, future-ready economy.
As Prof. Resdiansyah emphasised, infrastructure development is no longer just about physical projects. It is about creating a modern ecosystem that supports growth, inclusivity, and long-term resilience. Engaging with one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic construction fronts is pivotal for regional partners and investors.
