The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) celebrated 122 industry experts who achieved outstanding achievements in safety and health, environmental sustainability, and quality on 22 October 2024, in conjunction with QUEST Day 2024.
QUEST 2024, previously known as SHEQ Day, which stands for Safety & Health, Environment, and Quality Day, aims to recognise and award industry players who are able to carry out construction projects by maintaining the quality of work and environmental sustainability and bringing attention to safety and health aspects.
QUEST 2024 continues to emphasise the focus on safety and health, the environment, and the quality of the country’s construction industry. This annual recognition hopes to increase the confidence of industry players and consumers in the companies concerned. Attended by important individuals in the sector, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Works, accompanied by Dato Sri Mohd Zaid Zakaria, Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia, expressed their appreciation and immense pride to every construction company that has worked towards the same goal.
Traditionally, CIDB awards projects according to several categories, such as the Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC), the Safety and Health Performance Assessment System in Construction (SHASSIC), the Carbon Retention and Environmental Retention Tool (MyCREST), and the Sustainability Infrastructure Rating Tool ( INFRASTAR). In a more progressive step, CIDB introduced two new performance achievements, the Contractor’s Capability and Ability Evaluation Programme (SCORE) and the Contractor’s Quality Management System (CQMS), through the audit process. The implementation of one process can contribute to the scoring of other awards, marking a significant advancement in the industry.
The recognition of this award will set a new standard, ensuring that aspects of quality, safety, health and sustainability become a duty in every project started, thereby shaping a more promising future for the construction industry.
