CIDB Pahang issued 62 compounds and 42 notices at two construction sites in Cameron Highlands during an integrated enforcement operation (OPB) on July 24. 2019.
According to CIDB Pahang director Saini Saidi, the operations were carried out at a shopping mall construction site in Brinchang and a hotel project site in Tanah Rata.
About 100 personnel from CIDB, National Registration Department, Companies Commission of Malaysia and state health department were involved in the five-hour operation.
“The compounds and notices were issued by CIDB for various offences, including for construction personnel not having registration certificates and the Green Card (GC),” said Saini.
He added that at the Brinchang project site, notices were issued to a skilled worker and site supervisor for not having proper CIDB accreditation.
“A total of 17 construction workers at this site also had no proper accreditation and notices have been issued to them.
“Compounds will be issued to their employers,” he said.
Under the CIDB Act (Act 520), failure of construction personnel to have valid CIDB registration certificates and the Green Card will result in errant companies and their personnel being punished.
Failure to comply may result in a fine up to RM5,000 to both employer and employees alike.
For companies found operating construction activities unregistered with CIDB can be fined a minimum of RM10,000 and a maximum of RM100,000.
In the same operation, the state health department also issued two notices to the sites for being mosquito breeding grounds.
