CIDB Issues 62 Compounds During Spot Check At Two Project Sites In Cameron Highlands

 

SHAH ALAM: A delegation from the Works Ministry visited CIDB Holding’s laboratory for product certification and product testing on July 3, 2019.

 

The aim of the visit was to introduce the services offered by CIDBH’s Quality Assurance and Construction Material Unit, and to explain the functions and use of laboratory equipment.

 

The laboratory which started operations in 2008 offers third-party certification, verification and testing services for incoming and outgoing construction products according to Schedule 4 of the CIDB Act (Act 520).

 

Act 520 stipulates that all construction materials must be verified and certified in compliance with Standard Malaysia, and to avoid the use of non-quality products in the construction industry.

 

This is to ensure the quality, health and safety of the project delivery.

 

The laboratory which is internationally recognized through ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation is based at Bangunan Makmal Kerja Raya, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur. This facility will soon relocate to Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam.

 

The Works Ministry delegation was led by Deputy Under Secretary Ainul Ridzwan Zainudin, and joined by CIDB Senior General Manager Datuk Ir. Elias Ismail and CIDBH Chief Executive Officer Supian Musa.

 

Apart from this laboratory, CIDBH also has a verification unit and a certification body with international accreditation - which are located at Level 22, Menara Dato Onn, PWTC in Kuala Lumpur.

 

Currently CIDBH has over 1,000 clients for their services from over seven countries, including from Turkey, Spain, Italy and China among others.

 

There are 13 items under CIDBH’s testing & certification programme, including ceramic tiles, ceramic pipe, cement, aluminium and others. For the full list of items please logon to www.cidb.gov.my.

 

All construction materials used by the construction industry must be CIDB tested and verified, failing which a construction company can be fined a minimum of RM10,000 and up to RM500,000.
