THE BEST CONTRACTOR AWARDS

These awards aim to give recognition to local contractors who have demonstrated overall excellence in their company’s performance and project implementation. This category will be presented as follows:

        1. The Best Contractor Grade G1

        2. The Best Contractor Grade G2

        3. The Best Contractor Grade G3

        4. The Best Contractor Grade G4

        5. The Best Contractor Grade G5

        6. The Best Contractor Grade G6

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Company performance
  • Technical capabilities
  • Adoption of best practices in project implementation

 

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. This category is opened to local contractors from Grade G1 to G6 registered with CIDB Malaysia
  2. Contractors participating for this category must ensure their projects were completed within the period of 1st July 2015 until 31st December 2017 and issued with Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC)/Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC). For small contractors who do not have CPC/CCC, any evidence of job completion from the client is accepted
  3. Projects which have previously been assessed for Award Recipients or Special Mention recipients of past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
THE BEST PROJECT AWARD

These awards aim to recognize projects that have demonstrated overall excellence in project implementation with appreciation / acknowledgement given to clients, contractors and leading consultants (project team). This category is divided into building and infrastructure comprising small, medium and major projects as follows:

 

A. Building Project

Small: Contract value less than RM20 million

Medium: Contract value RM20 million to RM100 million

Major: Contract value more than RM100 million

 

B. Infrastructure Project

Small: Contract value less than RM20 million

Medium: Contract value RM20 million to RM100 million

Major: Contract value more than RM100 million

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

 

  • Concept, Design and Planning:

Application of new technology, benefit to society and the nation, uniqueness of project, standardization / modularization in design or adoption of IBS, consideration of green technology in design, landscape, sustainable design, provision of amenities, consideration on maintenance and asset & facility management.

  • Construction:

Safety & health practices (SHASSIC score), workmanship and quality of construction works (QLASSIC score), timely delivery, quality management system, utilization of local resources, construction innovation / mechanization and environmental management plan (EMP).

  • Recognition:

Client’s / stakeholder’s testimonial, other awards (national level).

 

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

  1. These categories are opened to clients, contractors registered with CIDB and consultants. Participation may be submitted individually or jointly
  2. Projects must be completed in Malaysia within the period of 1st July 2015 until 31st December 2017 and issued with Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC) / Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC)
  3. Sub-contractors are eligible to participate in MCIEA 2018, provided they have obtained written consent from the main contractor
  4. For joint venture projects by Malaysian and international contractors, the shareholding held by Malaysian contractors must exceed 70%
  5. Projects which have previously been recognized as Best Project or Special Mention recipients of past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
QLASSIC AWARD

This award aims to give recognition to clients and contractors whose project scored the highest QLASSIC marks for residential and non residential projects. Recipients for this award shall be based on records available for the QLASSIC program in CIDB.

SAFETY & HEALTH AWARD

This award aims to give recognition to contractors whose project scored the highest SHASSIC marks for best practice in safety and health in construction industry. Recipients for this award shall be based on records available for the SHASSIC program in CIDB.

 

GREEN BUILDING AWARD

This award aims to recognize building projects which have adopted green and sustainable concept / practices / techniques in its implementation with appreciation / acknowledgement given to clients, contractors and leading consultants (project team).

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Practices involved in the whole construction cycle including green design, construction, operation and maintenance
  • Sustainability impact on the environment
  • Application of green innovation construction
  • Related awards received: Accreditation / certification if any (eg: EMS: ISO 14001)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. This category is opened to clients, contractors registered with CIDB and consultants. Participation may also be submitted individually or jointly
  2.  Projects must be completed in Malaysia within the period of 1st July 2015 until 31st December 2017 and issued with Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC) and rated by green building rating tools (E.g.: MyCREST, GBI, GreenRE, etc).
  3.  Sub-contractors are eligible to participate in MCIEA 2018, provided they have obtained written consent from the main contractor
  4.  For joint venture projects by Malaysian and international contractors, the shareholding held by Malaysian contractors must exceed 70%
  5.  Projects which have previously been recognized as Green Construction or Special Mention recipients of past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
IBS AWARD

This award aims to recognize projects which have effectively adopted and utilised Industrialised Building System (IBS) in its implementation with appreciation / acknowledgement given to clients, contractors and leading consultants (project team).

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Quality of overall design
  • Quality of workmanship on project completion
  • IBS score
  • Minimisation of wastage throughout the whole construction process
  • Ease of installation and jointing method
  • Adoption of open system concept

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. This category is opened to clients, contractors registered with CIDB and consultants. Participation may also be submitted individually or jointly
  2. Projects must be completed in Malaysia within the period of 1st July 2015 until 31st December 2017 and issued with Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC)/Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC)
  3. Sub-contractors are eligible to participate in MCIEA 2018, provided they have obtained written consent from the main contractor
  4. Projects which have previously been recognized for IBS Award or Special Mention in past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
INNOVATION AWARD

This award aims to give recognition to Malaysian individual / team that has produced ideas / concept / product / processes / techniques / technologies which can improve efficiency and productivity of project implementation and / or the construction industry.

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation: Originality, creativity, research & development & significant improvement in construction
  • Economic Benefit: Improvement on efficiency, productivity and quality of construction, industry acceptance, reduction on maintenance cost contributing to overall economic benefits
  • Sustainability: Enhance the sustainability of the construction industry, social impact & environmental friendliness
  • Related awards received: Accreditation / certification if any

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. This category is opened to Malaysian individual or team related to the construction industry
  2. This category is open for idea / concept / product / processes / techniques / technologies that have been tested & applied.
  3. Idea / concept / product / processes / techniques / technologies that have previously been considered for Award Recipients or Special Mention recipients of past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

This award aims to give recognition to Malaysian contractors who have achieved outstanding and credible recognition in overseas construction ventures.

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Level of involvement in international market including number of projects, values and country
  • Adoption of overall quality management system
  • Degree of participation in international promotion program organized locally or internationally
  • Ability to overcome international construction challenges, market difficulties, degree of complexity, cultural barriers, different style of management and any operational practices that are related to the industry
  • Ability to project excellent image of Malaysia (track record), timeliness in completing project, host country perception, types of involvement and value of project
  • Overall contribution to the Malaysian economy (utilization of Malaysian resources ie subcontractors, products, suppliers & consultants)

 

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. This category is opened to Malaysian contractors registered with CIDB
  2. Contractors must be awarded international projects and the projects must be completed within the period of 1st July 2015 until 31st December 2017 and issued with related certificate of compliance
  3. Percentage of equity for Malaysian contractor must exceed 30% for joint venture company
  4. Projects which have previously been assessed for Award Recipients or Special Mention recipients of past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
BUILDER OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award aims to give recognition to local Grade G7 contractor who has demonstrated overall excellence in company’s performance and project implementation.

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Company Performance
  • Technical Capabilities
  • Adoption of best practices in project implementation 

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. This category is opened to local G7 contractors registered with CIDB Malaysia
  2. All participants are required to have undergone contractors’ assessment under the CIDB Malaysia SCORE rating system and submit a valid SCORE Rating Certificate from CIDB Malaysia
  3. Contractors participating for this category must ensure their projects were completed within the period of 1st July 2015 until 31st December 2017 and issued with Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC) / Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC).
  4. Projects which have previously been assessed for Award Recipients or Special Mention recipients of past MCIEAs are not qualified for submission in MCIEA 2018
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Construction Leading Lady Award

This award aims to give recognition to women who best represent the qualities and attributes of a prominent construction industry player and has contributed significantly to the development of the Malaysian construction industry.

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Contribution to national development and aspirations
  2. Contribution to development and improvement of the construction industry
  3. Contribution to creativity, innovation and / or inventions
  4. Contribution to charitable and voluntary services
  5. Has been a role model in the construction industry

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. An individual who is a Malaysian citizen
  2. An individual who has actively, significantly continuously contributed to the construction industry for the last 25 years
  3. An individual who has served at National Level Construction Industry related Committees entrusted with Policy Making Decisions. (Eg: CIDB Board committee, CIDB Industry committees, CITP committees, Central Agencies committees etc)

CEO of the Year Award

This award aims to give recognition to an individual who has successfully steered, managed, directed and moulded the company they lead to greater heights and contributed significantly to the development of the Malaysian construction industry.

 

Judging Criteria

Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

  • Company’s financial and business performance
  • Company’s adoption of innovative practices
  • Company’s contribution towards the national construction industry
  • Company’s contribution towards sustainable development
  • Company’s contribution to social and community projects
  • Individual commitment towards R&D within company or the industry
  • Individual involvement in construction NGO
  • Personality and ethics

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in this category will be based on the following criteria:

 

  1. An individual who is a Malaysian citizen
  2. The application for this award is opened to Chief Executive / Managing Director of Malaysian construction related companies
  3. The individual must have served as Chief Executive / Managing Director for a period of not less than 5 years in the same company up till 30th March 2018

Prominent Player Award

This award aims to give recognition to an individual who best represents the qualities and attributes of a prominent construction industry player and has contributed significantly to the development of the Malaysian construction industry. Selection of recipient for this category is based on nomination / recommendation of MCIEA panel of assessors.
